Lips x Protocol: Such a pleasure to have you! So tell us, What's Your Protocol?

Ja'el: My lifestyle rule is to always remember WHOSE I am!

Fashion, style and beauty rules are to just be me! I think it's so important for people to embrace their individuality and uniqueness and I try to incorporate that into all aspects of my life.

Lips x Protocol: Whats the best beauty advice you've received?

Ja'el: Grasping the concept that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder was quite freeing.

Lips x Protocol: Whom would you say is your beauty icon?

Ja'el: My beauty icon is me.

" My desire is for everyone to realize how amazing they are not to live in fear. I also desire for everyone to pursue what's in their heart and live out their dreams and desires with truth and righteousness. Just own the fact that God made you dope and go be GREAT! "

Lips x Protocol: You look amazing! Can you share with us your AM & PM beauty regimen?

Ja'el:

My AM beauty routine is to awake with an affirmation. I start off everyday first thanking God for another day and then commanding my day through the power of my words. After I have fed my spirit, my physical routine begins, which is pretty basic.

I started reading a book about what the women in the bible and what they used so I am like totally into natural products. I use black soap to cleanse then I moisturize with olive oil. I love it.

My PM beauty routine is quite simple as well. I only take baths. No showers, just baths when I am in my own home. I use a natural bubble bath that smells amazing, rinse and use olive oil again all over to moisturize and a gorgeous scented body oil.

Lips x Protocol: What does it mean to you to be an empowered female?

Ja'el: To be an empowered female means to own your greatness and flaws and work daily on becoming the best version of you.

Lips x Protocol: When you close your eyes and imagine an empowered woman, what do you see?

Ja'el:

I see a woman who is not afraid to be great. A woman who will die empty because she has made a decision to pursue every dream and become everything that God has created her to be. She is kind, forgiving, confident and a force to be reckoned with. She fears no man and understands that God is her source freeing her from silly competition, jealousy, and other attributes of an unempowered woman.

Lips x Protocol: What's your opinion on the difference between being sexual and being sexy?

Ja'el: Sexuality is something that I think needs to be discussed more. Women are not taught about sexuality and it has become extremely distorted. I am not sure how to answer this without writing a thesis but I will say that every woman that reads this needs to really research sex and sexuality. "WHEN ONE DOES NOT KNOW THE PURPOSE OF A THING ABUSE IS INEVITABLE".

Lips x Protocol: What is the biggest way in which you see women helping women reach empowerment?

Ja'el:  I see women helping women reach empowerment in many ways. What you are doing through "What's Your Protocol?" is one way. Also all the social media movements and other movements like Black Girls Rock are definitely making a difference.

Lips x Protocol: Tell us a little bit about your own personal path of empowerment? what was significant?

Ja'el: I think what is significant about my own personal path of empowerment is that it started with my mom and dad. They empowered me as far back as I can remember  along with my sister and they still do. They validated me and taught me my significance to and in God and that for me sealed the deal. I am empowered again because I know WHOSE I am and I will never dim my light because that would be an insult to the Creator who designed me to be love and light.

Lips x Protocol: What role do men play in supporting empowered women? How have men supported you?

Ja'el:  Men who understand who they are play a great role in nurturing that part of a woman that needs to be nurtured by a man. We need each other, men and women in a healthy and whole way. I have definitely met some Kings along the way who have dropped Gems into my spirit and for them I am grateful.

Lips x Protocol: How do you take care of yourself everyday so that you stay balanced and centered?

Ja'el:  I take care of myself by doing my personal development daily which consist of prayer, meditation and listening to great speakers. I take care of my body by drinking lot's of water, working out and trying to eat the proper foods. If I get off track I don't beat myself up.  I remind my self of how magnificent I am  that someone as brilliant as myself needs to get back to doing what serves me.
